Welcome
ISKDA is a growing Australian network of independent Shotokan karate practitioners. We are a Non political Alliance that operates without any membership costs or charges. ISKDA offers grade recognition support to the World JKA Karate Association (WJKA) and or authentic gradings with lineage to Sensei Sumi – Japan.
In the late 1980’s, Master Yoshikazu Sumi established the name and operated as the “International Friendship Karate-Do Alliance“. Since 2002, the name evolved from “Friendship” to “Shotokan” and is now known as the International Shotokan Karate-Do Alliance (ISKDA) by combining the visions of Master Yoshikazu Sumi, Shihan Jan Knobel and Sensei Evan Singer for a united future in Shotokan Karate.
Master Y Sumi’s grade of 8th Dan was awarded to him in October 2002 in conjunction with member international organisations and endorsed by the Late Soke Hirokazu Kanazawa, 10th Dan. President and Chief Instructor of Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation. Master Sumi has combined 70 plus years of study, training, & experience to develop a unique combination of traditional JKA (Japan Karate Association) karate practice with the true understandings of Karate-Jitsu (pre-JKA).
Master Y Sumi welcomes new Instructors / Dojo’s or Shotokan Practitioners to our free Shotokan network, align with his vision and benefit from his experience. Please feel welcome to contact our Administrator, Evan Singer on 0412 444 111 (within Australia) or 61 412 444 111 (Internationally), Email – evansinger@hotmail.com
ISKDA is a proud member of the official world group, World JKA Karate Association (WJKA) see link below, and registered by the All Japan Karate-Do Federation (Japan) when commissioned.
